Caligo Ventures is committed to the concepts of ecotourism and we work exclusively with local operators and tour guides in the countries that we visit insuring that the economic benefits of our travel programs have a significant impact on the local economy of our host countries. Additionally, Caligo Ventures provides direct contributions as well as educational scholarships, donations of field guides, binoculars, telescopes, and fundraising support to encourage the development of ecotourism in the nations that we visit. Our direct contributions have provided the staff naturalists of Trinidad's Asa Wright Nature Centre with environmental scholarships and travel support for education programs in the U.S.; assisted Belize Audubon Society in their Environmental Education Program and provide financial support to the remarkable Belize Zoo; help support the important research work of the Baird's Tapir Project in Costa Rica's Corcovado National Park ; and supported Venezuela Audubon Society by funding its bird censusing and monitoring program at the Rancho Grande Bird Banding Station in Henri Pittier National Park. We have also provided financial support through our membership in ANCON in Panama and The Organization for Tropical Studies, La Selva Field Station in Costa Rica as well as support for projects in East Africa through the Taita/Rukinga Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya. Caligo Ventures is a Supporting Member of The Ecotourism Society. |
