Asa Wright Nature Centre Bird List

Asa Wright Nature Centre Bird List

Bearded Bellbird

Over a number of years, the list of birds that may be seen on the Centre's grounds has grown to more than 170 species. If you add to that figure the number of additional species that may be seen as a result of trips that can be taken from the Centre to other areas of Trinidad, the total number of birds seen on a typical tour could be over 200 species!

The nesting of the Oropendola colony near the main house has always been a spectacular sight for visitors, but the easily observed nesting pair of Ornate Hawk-Eagles has drawn the greatest enthusiasm in recent years.

Numerous leks of both White-bearded and Golden-headed Manakins are found along the trails of the Centre and the bell-like "bong" of the Bearded Bellbird can be heard continuously.
